Trojans earn tennis victories

The Subiaco Academy Trojans tennis team opened the 2013 season with a 4-2 win over the Dardanelle Sand Lizards on the Subiaco courts on Aug. 29.

At number one singles, sophomore Jack Moser overcame his Dardanelle opponent 8-2. Playing at number one Trojan doubles, Marshal Brooks and Chris Trachier earned an 8-4 victory. Brooks also won his singles match 8-2. Alex Sharum and Mike Reilly beat their Dardanelle opponents 8-4.

In singles, John Tran and Patrick Giuliani suffered the only Subiaco losses.

In the second match of the Subiaco Academy tennis season, Moser and Brooks overcame their Mena opponents in both singles and doubles matches on Tuesday, Sept, 3 at Subiaco.

Moser, playing at the number one position, beat Mena’s Sherrer 8-4. Brooks won the number two singles match, 8-1. Tran won the number three singles match 8-1.

Moser and Brooks edged Sherrer and Renard 8-5 at first doubles. Sharum and Reilly earned an 8-3 win at number two doubles.

The Bearcats gained victories at number three doubles and number four singles.

The Trojans suffered a 6-3 loss to Greenwood on Wednesday, Sept. 4 and beat Pottsville 9-0 on Thursday, Sept. 5.

The doubles teams of Sharum-Reilly and Moser-Brooks continued their unbeaten streaks by defeating their opponents at Pottsville. Sharum, Reilly, Tran, Trachier, Nichol and Giuliani earned singles wins over the Apaches.
