Utilizing their speedy running backs and head hunting defense, the Paris Eagles opened the 2013 football season with a 45–2 win over the Johnson County West Side Rebels Friday.
Keeping the ball in the hands of their offense, the Eagles wasted little time getting on the board, scoring their first of three touchdowns in the opening quarter in only 37 seconds. Sitting on a 20 – 0 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles continued to push the ball down the field and reached the end zone four times in the second quarter to push their lead to 45–0 at the halftime break.
With the clock running due to the sportsmanship rule, the Eagle defense stepped up their play in the third quarter to keep the Rebels from scoring and maintain the shut out. However, a Rebels safety late in the fourth quarter spoiled the shutout and brought the score to a 45–2 final.
