Lights out shooting gives Lady Tigers win

Hitting multiple three pointers in the game and going on a 16-2 run in the opening of the third quarter, the Mansfield Lady Tigers pulled away from the Lady Eagles to capture the championship of the Bill Frye Invitational at Mansfield gymnasium.

Mansfield’s five senior members scored all but two of the team points, several of those on thee point shots that the Lady Eagles could not defend. The Lady Tigers pumped in 16-points in the opening quarter while holding the Lady Eagles to only 10-points.

Paris battled their way back in the second quarter and despite hitting two more three pointers, the Lady Eagles had cut Mansfield’s lead to a single point by the halftime break.

Paris opened the second half with the ball but could not maintain possession and committed several turnovers in the eight minutes while the Lady Tigers continued with their hot shooting adding 14 to their total.

Mansfield continued to knock down three pointers in the final quarter and the Lady Eagles continued to struggle getting the ball to the basket. After adding another 17-points, the Lady Tigers had captured the 56-37 win over the Lady Eagles.
