Junior Trojans get first win

Potent running game: The Subiaco Academy Junior Trojans offense earned 187 rushing yards against the Junior Sand Lizards of Dardanelle in a football game played Monday, Sept. 23. The Trojans came away with their first win of the season, 16-12.

The Subiaco Academy Junior Trojans football team got their first win on the young season Monday when they defeated a junior team from Dardanelle, 16-12.

The Junior Trojans opened the season with a loss to Lamar on Sept. 12.

The game also marked the Junior Trojans getting their first points of the season. Seth Kupers and Zach Franz each scored touchdown for the Junior Trojans.

The Junior Trojans pounded the Junior Sand Lizards with 187 yards on the ground on 32 attempts. That’s an average of 5.8 yards per rushing play. Leading the way with 84 yards was Kupers. Contributing to the rushing total was Alex Snow, Nick Charbonnet and Franz — all averaging over eight yards per carry.

The defense held their own with Hunter Shaw and Ethan Miller each having an interception. Alex Snow and Franz once again lead the team in tackles with Snow credited for 3.5 tackles and Franz picking up three.

The Junior Trojans get some time off before entertaining Waldron on Oct. 7. The game at Rebsamen Stadium on the Subiaco Academy campus will begin at 6 p.m.
