Huber’s effort not enough to carry the Lady Eagles past Lavaca

Errors have been the downfall of the Lady Eagles throughout the season, and it was once again the cause of early runs for the Lady Arrows which led to the 6-3 loss at Lavaca last week.

The first batter for Lavaca roped a line drive to left field but then the Lady Eagles got the next two batters out and it looked like a quick inning was in store. However, a fly ball to center field bounced off the glove of Paris’ Kelley Broadbent allowing one run and a runner on second. A Lavaca double and single led to another three runs giving the Lady Arrows a 4-0 lead after one inning of play.

A triple to lead off the bottom of the second looked like Lavaca would add more runs in the inning. However, a double play and a ground out kept the Lady Arrows from scoring leaving the score at 4-0.

Macey Hurt led off the top of the fourth with a double to begin a big inning for the Lady Eagles. Kailee Johnson followed with another double to score Hurt. Emily Richey drew a one out walk and Rylee Pennington reached on an error and Johnson scored leaving runners at second and third. Macy Harrison reached on an error and Paris scored another run and had runners on the corners but the next two batters failed to put the ball in play leaving the Lady Eagles trailing 4-3.

A lead off walk and an error put runners on for the Lady Arrows in the bottom of the fourth. Johnson struck out the next batter and got a ground out to leave two runners on for the Lady Arrows. A line drive single to left brought in Lavaca’s second run of the inning and a 6-3 deficit for the Lady Eagles.

Huber went to the mound in the fifth inning and faced only six batters to keep the Lady Arrows from scoring any more runs. Lavaca’s early runs in the game gave them the three run victory.
