Hatfield will speak at Paris event

Former University of Arkansas head football coach Ken Hatfield will be the guest speaker at the North Logan County Ministerial Alliance Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 2.

The event will take place at the St. Joeseph Catholic Church Parish Hall. Breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m. with the program running from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m.

Tickets to the event are $10 and may be purchased at any Paris-area church or at the church office at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paris. All proceeds, after expenses, will go to Community Outreach Services in Paris.

Hatfield was born and raised in Arkansas and currently lives in Springdale. He played defensive back on the 1964 Arkansas Razorbacks team that went undefeated and won the national championship. Among his team mates were Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and successful college and professional football coach Jimmy Johnson.

As head coach at Arkansas, Hatfield guided the Razorbacks to two straight Southwest Conference championships and Cotton Bowl berths. He also took teams to the Liberty Bowl in 1984 and 1987.
