Group seeking donations of deer meat

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 39 of Paris, Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry and Camp Hope for Heroes are asking hunters with last year’s deer meat in the freezer to donate some of it to hungry families in Logan County.

If you have some deer meat or other wild game in the freezer and aren’t going to use it, you are asked to call Ron Warnock at 479-518-0840, Circle W Pawn of Paris at 963-2848, Jon Gronwald at 479-963-3823 or the DAV chapter at 963-8001 and make arrangements to donate the meat.

Also, Warnock said last week that Scranton Processing and owner Alan Koch have agreed to accept wild game and process it for distribution this year. Gronwald is also accepting wild game for processing.

Also last week, Warnock presented a $3,106.94 check to Camp Hope for Heroes CEO Scott Bowman. The check came from Virginia R. Smith and Cheryl M. Reed and the John Ryan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3431 of Paris, Warnock said.

“It will be put in a special account to help veterans and the Feed the Hungry program,” he said.
