Fishing tournament, derby to be held

The Helping Our Kids organization of Scranton will host its third annual Fishing Tournament and Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 20 at the Dublin Recreation Area.

The Kids Fishing Derby will take place from 9 a.m. until noon. All kids participating must be accompanied by an adult. The first 75 kids to enter will get a free fishing pole from the Knights of Columbus. Kids will register starting at 9 a,m. The weigh in is at noon.

Registration for the Fishing Tournament will begin one hour before daylight. The tournament starts at daylight. Weigh in will be at 2 p.m. There will be a five fish weigh in (crappie, bass and catfish). The entry fee is $20 per boat per category. There is a $5 per person fee for the big fish per category and a 50 percent payback. Adults can call Michael Joe Johnson at 479-847-5122 to register.

You can also enter to win a camping gear basket sponsored by Helping Our Kids. You can purchase tickets at Rogers Tax Service, Logan County Bank, Scranton Truck and Trailer and Ahne Service Center. The basket includes a tent that sleeps six, chairs, lantern, tabletop gas barbeque grill, sleeping bags and more.

Helping Our Kids will serve free hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch. For more information, contact Rogers Tax Service 938-2289. All proceeds will benefit helping our kids and the Dublin Park Commission.
