Entries sought for tournament

Logan County Single Parent Scholarship Fund will hold its second annual golf tournament at Cherokee Creek Golf Club in Booneville on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 10 a.m.

This golf tournament is the big fund raiser for the single parent scholarships awarded in the fall, spring and summer semesters. The entrance fee of $200 is for a four-person scramble with money prizes for the wining team of each flight. A free lunch will be served to each of the players.

The more players, the more scholarships the organization can offer to single parents in Logan County.

LCSPSF is offering a new form of donation this year. Individuals, organizations and companies are encouraged to establish a scholarship in memory of or in honor of’ someone special to them, someone who loves golf, someone who is a great role model for single parents or someone worthy of remembering. These donations of $500 or more will provide a scholarship for one of person for one semester or more. These scholarships can be established for a single semester or on an annual basis, however the donor wishes to set it up. The donor is welcome to present the scholarship to the recipient at the awards event. The next awards event is Sept. 22 at the First National Bank Community Center in Paris.

The group’s purpose is to provide supplemental financial assistance to single parents in Logan County who are pursuing a course of instruction that will improve their income-earning potential. LCSPSF is an affiliate of Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund which is a state-wide non-profit organization with affiliates in each county.

Please contact Lee Lane, Chair of LCSPSF at 1-479-438-2183, to sign up for the golf tournament, make a donation or more information.
