If there is such a thing as a good tie, the 3A Paris Eagles got one when they tied 4A Farmington 7-7 last week.
Farmington had won 26-0 last year against a Paris team that finished the season 12-3. The Eagles have only two returning starters on offense and defense from that team.
“They thumped us pretty good last year, so I was a little worried before the game,” Paris coach Bryan Hutson said. “I am very pleased at the way we played against a good 4A team. We came out and played hard and stayed right with them and even had a chance to win the game.”
Paris gave up a quick score to get down 7-0 but the defense threw up a stone wall after that and only gave up 200 yards to the Cardinals for the game.
“With zero starters coming back on defense, that is pretty good,” Hutson said. “We don’t have any guys that are really standing out individually, but are playing good team defense and getting to the ball.”
Trenton Moeller had 11 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown and caught a pass for 28 yards.
