The Smackover Buckaroos came from behind in the second half of the first round of the state football playoffs to hand the Paris Eagles a 41-19 loss.
Paris scored the first touchdown of the game with a little over five minutes to play in the first quarter to take a 7–0 lead but the Buckaroos came back and tied the game at 7–7 at the end of the quarter.
Smackover took advantage of a short field and early in the second quarter the Buckaroos found their way to the end zone to take a 14-7 lead with 9:29 to play in the first half.
Paris worked hard and came back with a score of their own in the second quarter. A missed extra point attempt left the score at 14-13 at the halftime break.
The Buckaroos came out on fire in the second half and quickly took a 21–13 lead over the Eagles but Paris didn’t quit and with 42 seconds remaining in the quarter, the Eagles cut the Buckaroos lead to 21-19.
The fourth quarter belonged all to the Buckaroos as they reached the end zone three times to end the Eagles’ season with a 41-19 loss.
