Big fourth quarter gives Lady Eagles win over Lady Tigers

Going on an 8-0 run to begin the fourth quarter, the Paris Lady Eagles erased a three point deficit from the third quarter and began what would be a 22 point quarter which led to a 49-33 victory over the visiting Charleston Lady Tigers.

Playing very aggressive defense to open the game, the Lady Eagles managed to pick the pocket of the Charleston ball handlers and jumped out to an early 11-2 lead. Missed layups by Paris and a three pointer by the Lady Tigers brought the score to 11-6 by the end of the first eight minutes of play.

Lacy Diaz came off the bench in the second quarter and promptly knocked down back to back three pointers to spark the Lady Eagles to a 12-11 quarter and a 23-17 halftime lead.

Charleston came out shooting from long distance in the third quarter, hitting three from behind the three point arc and gaining the momentum. The Lady Tigers held the Lady Eagles to just four points in the quarter and went from being six down to three up going into the final quarter.

Paris’ early run and the 19 point swing in the fourth quarter afforded the Lady Eagles the 16 point victory and brought their conference record to 9-2 with three conference games to play.
