Letter to the Editor: Thanks for your help

To the Editor:

Really, I do not know how to begin this letter. So many people had a part in making the Guardian Angel Shopping Day a success yet I know that none of it would have been possible if not for God. Therefore I believe I will begin with “in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

So I give thanks first to God for His help in providing me with all the help I, as coordinator of the North Logan County Christmas Guardian Angel Program, received. From fellow board members who helped in many capacities, sponsors and individuals who helped us financially, First National Bank for the use of the Community Center on both Friday and Saturday. The Paris School District for providing two school busses for transportation and most importantly two great bus drivers, Shelly Potts and Richard Zimmer; the Paris Middle School Mentor Program for providing gift bags for each family who registered for the Guardian Angel Program. Wal-Mart as our shopping partner and the patience of their personnel ; the Paris Fire Department, Paris Police Department, Logan County Sheriff’s Department, students from the National Honor Society, Each and every individuals who volunteered to help either in one or more of the following capacities. Registration and Check-out both at the Community Center and Wal-Mart, who either checked children in or out, Taggers who stamped hands and provided each child with a name tag, Waiting-Area Angel who kept children occupied while they waited and or until their turn to visit with Santa. Yes, Santa made a stop at the Community Center to visit with the children. Thank you so very much Santa. The Bingo Angels who kept parents occupied while their children shopped.

Shepherds who traveled to and from Wal-Mart with children; Shoppers who walked with and assisted children as they shopped. Sackers who bagged and tagged purchased items at Wal-Mart check-out, and those who helped those same children put their goodies in their vehicles; anyone and everyone who helped in any way during the day.

So, you see, it took so many people to accomplish such a successful shopping day. Smooth transitions from one area to the other is what we had and believe me, that was absolutely wonderful . And my observance was that everyone had a smile on their face and joy in their hearts. It is my belief that absolutely none of it could have been accomplished without generosity of hearts and that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ. I think there is no better time of the year to be caring and generous than Christmas.

Merry Christmas, and God blessings and grace to one and all,

Karen Binz, Coordinator

North Logan County Christmas Guardian Angel Program
