Sister Frances Ann Braddock

Sister Frances Ann Braddock, age 94 , died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith.

The family of Joseph and Frances McCormick Hyland welcomed Roberta into their growing family April 2, 1919 in Blythe, Calif. She served in communications in the Army in World War II. After the war she married Charles Braddock. Some years after the death of her husband she asked to join St. Scholastica Monastery. She entered the community in 1985 and chose the name Sister Frances Anne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bruce; her daughter, Elizabeth, eight sisters, Amy Kuster, Sister Roberta Hyland, Sister DeChantal Hyland, Catherine Hyland, Ruth Hyland, Joan Homan, Maureen Swaller and Rita Johnson; and four brothers, Rev. Fred Hyland, Bert Hyland, Pat Hyland, and Gary Hyland.

Vespers for the dead was Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The funeral Mass was held Monday, April 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David McKillin as presider. Burial was in the Monastery cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

She is survived by five daughters, Charlyn Bernard, Kay Little, Lynora Lagrade, and Edna Adams all of Houma, La. and Rose Thummel of Thibodaux, La.; one sister, Joyce Tingle and one brother, Brother Gerald Hyland and her religious community.
