Lyndell Marie Rice, who resided in Charleston, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born November 27, 1933 in Russellville to the late Cornelius Welch Johnson and Mary Ella (Cross) Johnson. She was 79 years old. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, Coy Appleton and James Edward Rice; two brothers and two sisters.
She was a retired LPN at the Paris Nursing Home in Paris and member of Northside Baptist Church in Charleston.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, at Northside Baptist Church in Charleston, with Rev. Greg Qualls officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Young of Mountainburg and Lisa Nubbie of Clarksville; two sons, James (Buster) Appleton of Clarksville and William Appleton of Charleston; two step-daughters, Carolyn Douglas of Fort Smith and Sandy Haney of Charleston; one step-son, Randy Rice of Lavaca; one granddaughter; Eleven step-grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jimmie Johnson, Greg Johnson, Larry Johnson, Charles Appleton, Bruce Pearson, and Larry Pearson.
