John Jerome Layes

John Jerome Layes, 71, of Subiaco passed away on April 5, 2013 in Fort Smith. He was born on March 17, 1942 in Scranton to his parents, John B. and Estelle (Beshoner) Layes. He was a retired Catalog Manager for Cloyes Gear Company in Paris and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco and the Knights of Columbus Council 3787. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and traveling.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Jeanie Layes.

Rosary serivce was held at 7:45 p.m., on Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.

Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco officiated by Abbot Jerome Kodell O.S.B. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roselyn (Eckart) Layes of Subiaco; two sons, John J. Layes Jr. “Jay” of Farmington and Clint Alan Layes and wife Rebecca of Little Rock; two sisters, Teresa Roos and husband Bill of Caldwell, Id. and Clarine Terwey and husband Jack of Prairie View; two brothers, Ronald L. Layes of Scranton and Charles Layes of Scranton; one grandson, Owen John Layes of Little Rock.

Pallbearers were Steve Layes, Darian Layes, Craig Layes, Gary Kaelin, Jamie Ward and Jarrad Ward.

Honorary pallbearers were PeeWee Schluterman, Pat Ward, Leonard Lensing, James Sprick, Jimmy Kremers, Charlie Lux and Frank Klein.
