A 34-year-old Paris man was killed and another was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Wednesday, July 2 near Hawley, Texas.
David Lynn Reese of Paris was ejected from the Jeep he was driving on Highway 277 between Hawley and Anson, Texas. According to reports, the Jeep suffered a blow out and rolled two or three times and crossed into oncoming traffic.
Aaron Fox of Ratcliff was a passenger in the Jeep and was not thrown out. He was wearing a seat belt, according to reports. He was taken to a hospital and released the same day, according to his mother Maria Fox of Ratcliff. He suffered an injury to his hand, she said.
Initial reports stated that Reese wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. However, Maria Fox said her son told her Reese was wearing a seat belt.
A graveside funeral service was held for Reese Monday at Paint Rock Cemetery.
Reese was an equipment operator with Tri Dal of Dallas, Tex. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lacy Reese of Paris; a son, Cedric Reese of Paris; his mother, Carroll Huggins and step-father, Travis Huggins of Conway; father, Linal Reese, Jr. of Springfield, Mo.; sisters, Wendy Combs and husband, Robert of Texarkana, Tex., Trinity Bardin and husband Tim of Carrollton, Ga., Angela Collins of Muldrow, Okla., Amber Thompson of San Antonio, Tex., Julie Marts of Fort Smith; brothers, Tracy Duty of Fort Smith, Jonathan Reese and wife, Mandi of Gilbert, Ariz., Daniel Reese of Springfield, Mo.; grandmother, Barbara Reese of Van Buren; mother and father-in-law, Don and Karen Fairbanks of Magazine; sister-in-law, Kristi Bates and husband Bart of Paris; 19 nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ryan Mauer, Edward Blalock, Daniel Phelps, Steven Melton, Matthew Mooring, Tracy Duty, Travis Huggins and Aaron Fox.
