200-plus expected for banquet

The Boys and Girls Club of Paris will hold its annual fund raising banquet Friday at the First National Bank Community Center in Paris.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The menu includes pork loin, seasoned green beans, a baked potato, Caesar salad and cheesecake with strawberries.

The guest speaker this year is Bo Mattingly, host of Sports Talk With Bo, which is broadcast on radio and television stations in the state.

“He a pretty entertaining guy, so it should be a lot of fun,” said Jarrod Yarnell, CEO of First National Bank at Paris, which organizes the banquet each year for the club.

In addition to dinner and Mattingly’s speech, the event will also include a silent auction with proceeds going to the club.

Last year, the event raised $13,000. The goal this year is $15,000, Yarnell said.

The room will seat 200 or so and Yarnell is expecting the event to sell out.

“I think we’ll be full,” Yarnell said. “Tickets have been selling well and we still have a few tickets left.”

Tickets are $25 per person. Or, you can purchase a table seating eight people for $250.

You can purchase tickets at First National Bank of Paris or at the Boys and Girls Club of Paris.

This is the sixth year for the event.
