Museum hosts dog show

The Logan County Museum held its second annual Pooches on Parade Dog Show in the museum’s back yard on Saturday May 18.

The Show’s Master of Ceremonies was Paris Area Chmaber of Commerce Executive Director Linda Hixson.

There were 10 categories of judging for the dogs. Watering spots for the dcogs were also set up. For people in attendance, there were hot dogs, chips and water on hand sold by June Carter. First, second and third place awards were given in each category by judges Helen Bates of the Logan County Museum Board, Paris Mayor Daniel Rogers and Shanna Schulte of Paris Ford

The awards were handed out by helpers Mylee Schulte (Shanna Schulte’s daughter) and Ethan Rogers (Mayor Daniel Roger’s son).

Museum Board President Dana Kuper and event co-chair, board member Sarah White recruited sponsors, organized the show, and set things up with help from board members Helen Bates, Glee Deichmann and Museum Administrator Jeanne Reynolds. Board member Susan Johnson made sure the pets had plenty of places to get a drink and the judges had a place to sit. The Paris Chamber of Commerce made sure the Judges had shade to keep them cool. Volunteer John Deichmann and board treasurer Glee Deichmann provided and set up the sound system which borrowed from the Prairie View United Methodist Church.

John Deichmann kept things hopping with 1950’s music before the show started and between events. Glee Deichmann handled registration and kept the museum open during the Dog Show for those who wanted to tour the museum.

There were participants from Fort Smith, Russellville, New Blaine, Booneville, Magazine, Charleston, Ratcliff and Paris. The show will be held next year in the spring.

Sponsors of the event included Castle Graphics, Community Outreach Services, CV’s Family Foods, Danielle’s Salon, Eagle Video, El Parian Restaurant, Grapevine Restaurant, Infinity Salon, Medi Quick Pharmacy, NAPA, the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce, Paris Family Pharmacy. Paris Veterinary Hospital, Pizza Barn, Prairie View United Methodist Church, Precious Nails, Rust and Roses, Sabrina’s, Scott’s on the Square, Sonic Drive-In, Wal-Mart, Warren’s Shoes and Wells Furniture and Mount Magazine Gifts.
