Last Vegas — Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline portray wisecracking childhood friends hoping to soak up the bright lights and big noises of Las Vegas. Co-stars Romany Malco and Bre Blair. (PG-13)

Carrie — This remake of Brian De Palma’s 1976 horror film focuses on a shy, outcast student, who is punished by her peers and metaphorically suffocated by an overbearing mother. Stars Chloe Grace Mortez and Julianne Moore. (R)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 — Flint Lockwood is a genius inventor who is horrified to learn that one of his inventions is creating food-animal hybrids in this animated sequel. (PG)

The Counselor — Javier Bardem, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz are among the cast members of director Ridley Scott’s drama about a sucessful lawyer who lives fast and is the envy of others. (R)

Despicable Me 2Gru and the minions are back for another animated, fast-paced adventure. Features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig and Benjamin Bratt. (PG)

Escape Plan — Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzeneger, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jim Caviezel star in this thriller about a wrongly imprisoned man, who tries to break out of a little-known, high-tech facility known as “The Tomb.” (R)

The Fifth Estate — The early days of WikiLeaks are examined in director Bill Condon’s film. Stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Laura Linney, Daniel Bruhl and Anthony Mackie. (R)

Grace Unplugged — Grace Trey is a Christian who steps into the real world at 18, only to find her faith tested more than once. Stars A.J. Michalka, Jamie Grace, Kevin Pollak and James Denton. (PG)

Gravity — Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in the dramatic thriller about Dr. Stone, who experiences destruction of their shuttle during a routine procedure on her first space shuttle mission. (PG-13)

I’m in Love with a Church Girl — Ja Rule plays a rich, retired drug trafficker who meets a woman (Adrienne Bailon) who could be the girl of his dreams if his checkered past allows it. (PG)

Insidious: Chapter 2Patrick Wilson, Lin Shayne, Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins star in this chilly sequel about the Lambert family embarking on a search to unlock their childhood secret. (PG-13)

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa — Johnny Knoxville and Jackson T. Nicoll strive for laughs in this comedy about an 86-year-old man who travels across the United States with his 8-year-old grandson. (R)

Machete Kills — Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machette, who is recruited by the U.S. government for an impossible mission. Also stars Alexa Vega, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara and Lady Gaga. (R)

Monsters University — Mike and Sulley are seen during their college days. (PG)

Prisoners — Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard and Melissa Leo star in director Denis Villeneuve’s thriller about a man forced into action after his young daughter is reported missing. (R)

Riddick — Vin Diesel returns in this latest film of the “Chronicles of Riddick” series, which finds Riddick (Diesel) left to die on what appears a lifeless planet. Riddick must fight alien beings and a relentless bounty hunter with a grudge. (R)

Runner Runner — Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake and Oliver Cooper lead the cast in this story about a Princeton grad student, who hunts down a gambling tycoon after he thinks he’s been swindled. Also stars Anthony Mackie. (R)

Smurfs 2 — The Smurfs team up with human friends to rescue Smurfette. (PG)

We’re The Millers — When David becomes in debt to his tough-talking dealer, he has to smuggle drugs from Mexico to erase the debt. Stars Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Nick Offerman and Ed Helms. (R)

The Wolverine — Hugh Jackman returns as the X-Men hero, who is summoned by a friend to Japan and confronted with a conflict that forces him to face his own personal demons. (PG-13)
