The Conjuring — Based on a true story, this movie follows Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, are called to investigate an aggressive presence at a remote farm. Stars Ron Livingston and Vera Farmiga. (R)

Despicable Me 2 — Gru and the minions are back for another animated, fast-paced adventure. Features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Russell Brand and Steve Coogan. (PG)

Epic — The creators of “Ice Age” present this animated tale about a young girl who magically finds herself in a land where good must battle evil. Features the voices of Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell and Beyonce Knowles. (PG)
