The 33rd Cowie Winefest and Arkansas Championship Grape Stomp will take place Saturday, Sept. 14 at Cowie Winery on West State Highway 22 in Carbon City, three miles west of Paris.
Events will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Activities begin with the Blessing of the Wine and will be followed by the grape stomp. Kristi Pfeiffer will be the first person to stomp grapes, something she has done for the last 32 years. Guests can also stomp grapes.
Other activities include live music, a waiter’s race, other games and tours of the Arkansas Historic Wine Museum located at the winery. Visitors will also be able to tour the Cowie family chapel, which is located on the winery grounds.
Robb McCormick of Some Guy Named Robb Band will also perform during the afternoon.
Prizes will be awarded in each event. There is no charge for admission but snacks and drinks will be available.
Closing the event will be the Ringing of the Bells to celebrate the day. The largest bell is 61 inches across and is one of the largest bells in Arkansas. Twelve of the bells are hung in a 35-foot-tall tower at the winery.
